Banana Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing
Soft, pillowy banana-infused dough rolled with gooey cinnamon sugar & fresh banana slices, topped with luscious cream cheese icing—perfect for breakfast or brunch!
🛒 Ingredients
🔹 Banana Dough:
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 large egg, room temp
- ⅔ cup mashed bananas (about 2 bananas)
- 5¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter, cubed & softened
🔹 Cinnamon Banana Filling:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temp
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 bananas, thinly sliced
🔹 Cream Cheese Icing:
- 4 oz cream cheese, room temp
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, room temp
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
👩🍳 Directions
✨ Step 1: Activate the Yeast
Warm milk to 110°F, sprinkle yeast on top & let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
✨ Step 2: Make the Dough
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt & rub in butter until it forms crumbs. Add yeast mixture, egg & mashed bananas. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
✨ Step 3: First Rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover & let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
✨ Step 4: Make the Filling
Beat butter, brown sugar & cinnamon into a spreadable paste.
✨ Step 5: Roll & Fill
Roll dough into a ¼-inch thick rectangle. Spread filling evenly & top with banana slices.
✨ Step 6: Shape & Second Rise
Roll dough into a log & cut into 12 pieces. Place in a greased 9×13-inch pan & let rise for 20 minutes.
✨ Step 7: Bake
Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 28-33 minutes until golden brown.
✨ Step 8: Make the Icing & Serve
Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar & vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls & enjoy!
