Cherry Bars
Delicious cherry bars with a buttery crust and sweet cherry filling, perfect for any dessert table!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Prepare Batter: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Combine Ingredients: Combine the flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Layer Batter and Filling: Spread 3 cups of batter into the prepared pan. Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter. Drop the remaining batter by teaspoonfuls over the filling.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
